Past Events

Manningford's Winter Challenge 29th December 2012.

At last I have chance to sit down to write a small piece on our Winter Challenge last year, wow! it seems so long ago now.

Anyway where do I begin?, a total of 17 anglers took part in out annual challenge which started with a delicious bacon roll and coffee followed by our briefing. The weather was a little unsettled with strong winds and the occasional drizzle but didn't seem to put off some very determined fisher women and men as fishing commenced.

Fishing was fast and furious early morning with a few anglers doing well including 2 lovely fish of 9lbs before the lunch interval. Everyone was then treated to a tasty three course meal with drinks, served by our very own catering team.

The afternoon was a little slower than the morning but didn't stop everyone from reaching their four fish limit, weigh-in approached and while all sat warming with steaming mugs of tea/coffee results were tallied.

The final results were
Dominic with the heaviest fish of the day which was lovely 9 lbs 8 oz Rainbow.
Victoria had the heaviest bag of Trout weighing 15 lbs 15 oz (incidently her heaviest fish being a 9 lb 6 oz Rainbow… 2 oz short of Dominics achievement.
Pete Waluga had 2nd heaviest bag with a total of 4 fish weighing 14 lb 5 oz.

So ended a successful and a good time had by all.  A very special thanks to Charles Jardine for donating two hand-signed prints for the first two prizes and his help on the day. (Charles, hope your foot/ankle gets better soon). To Nick and his family for creating and serving up such good wholesome food and last but not least the fisherman that attended.  If I have not mentioned anyone please accept my apologies.
